Why Choose Legacy Bridge Counseling and Consulting?

In 2006 Allison began her journey as a sworn law enforcement officer.  She served approximately 8 years on patrol and in a hospital setting.  Approximately 6 of those years were as a CIT officer.  Her passion for dealing with individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, and situational crisis developed into a new career path.  In 2018 she graduated with her Joint Master of Social Work Degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University and University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a background in substance use and school social work.

After graduating Allison went back to what she did best, crisis response.  She went to work with Daymark Recovery Services providing mobile crisis response services in Forsyth, Davie, Rockingham, Stokes, Rowan, and Davidson counties in central North Carolina.  After relocating to the Charlotte-Metro Area, Allison joined the Community Policing Crisis Response team as a co-response clinician partnered with a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer.  As the contract for services renewed, doubling the staffing of the team, she took on a new role as the Community Policing Clinical Coordinator.  She assisted with growth and development, daily operations, and supervisory duties of co-responder teams including thirteen clinicians working with two different law enforcement agencies.

Throughout her time she also worked to have both of her dogs, Dozer and Archer, certified as therapy dogs.  She currently volunteers through Alliance of Therapy Dogs and as part of the Tri-State Canine Crisis Response Team.

As Allison developed Legacy Bridge Counseling and Consulting LLC she wanted to help fill gaps that she became aware of through her years across both fields.

1) The lack of mental health providers for first responders with first hand knowledge and experience in the field providing understanding of the problems and traumas that first responders and their families may experience.

2) Consultation services for agencies developing co-responder programs.  Proper planning and development takes expert knowledge base to properly equip and develop programs from the ground up, providing appropriate and comprehensive training to minimize the number of problems during operation.

3)Training for mental health providers supporting professional development on how to better manage clients who are in active crisis.

4)Training for companies and agencies on how to appropriately respond to individuals they encounter that may be experiencing an active mental health crisis or challenge.
